Sites of the Week: July 14, 2013

“It is perfectly monstrous,’ he said, at last, ‘the way people go about nowadays saying things against one behind one’s back that are absolutely and entirely true.”

Oscar Wilde

Factoid: For every deceased person who is buried, four are now cremated.

The Wall Street Journal

Now on to this week’s sites. This week, I’m sending out three ‘Site of the Week’ recommendations.

Pulse
https://www.pulse.me

Pulse is a FREE powerful and intuitive news reading app available on Android, iPad, iPhone, Kindle Fire, Nook and the Web. Select your preferred news sources, and Pulse pulls in images and text and arranges them for you. It also features video channels, local news feeds, and a read-it-later feature, as well as paid content from the Wall Street Journal.

Inky
http://inky.com/

Inky is an alternative e-mail client that works with Web mail including Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com, Apple iCloud, etc. Inky consolidates all your e-mail accounts into one simple interface. All your messages are categorized into smart views and sorted by relevance. Set-up is easy. Just enter your e-mail address and password and Inky will detect the service you use.

myFICO: Free Credit Score Estimator
http://www.myfico.com/ficocreditscoreestimator/

myFICO is the consumer division of Fair Isaac, the company that invented the FICO credit risk score that lenders use. This site naturally wants to sell you services, but it also includes a free credit score estimator. Yes, it only estimates your score, but it’s free, requires no identifying information and it’s quick because the site only asks you 10 questions before immediately displaying an estimated score range.
